Our Talented Musicians

Randy Solis

Randy Solis

Role: Founder and Vocalist

Randy C. Solis Born in Raymondville, Texas 1956 Educated in Corpus Christi, Texas Music student on drums in Jr High and High School graduating in 1975 Music instructors were Mr Ron McElroy at Cunningham jr high, Mr Eddie Olivarez at Moody High School marching band and orchestra and Mr Ram Chavez at Moody High School for jazz/stage band. It was with Mr Chavez that I learned about modern jazz and being in a stage band. Put my first band together in 9th grade for a talent show. We brought the house down! From 1980s to 2003 I played in dozens of bands in Corpus Christi, the Rio Grande Valley and Dallas. I started the Cruise Control band in 2006 with 4 friends from high school stage band. I am the last original member. Heavily influenced by my older cousins Rudy Llanes and Frutoso Llanes, Don Brewer of Grand Funk, Ron Bushy of Iron Butterfly and of course the great Ringo Starr of the Beatles. Married for 24 years, Im lucky in that my wife has always supported my musical ambitions even having managed the band for the first 5 years. For as long as I can remember, music has been an important part of my life. At first, it was listening to 45 rpm records that my older siblings had. Then it was AM radio broadcasting the latest in 1960srock and roll. I was that kid with a transistor radio pressed to my ear day and night. I even built a crystal radio and tuned in nightly. When it was time to pick an instrument in junior high band, i never hesitated. I would be a drummer some day. My day job is so boring i wont even mention it here.
